While doing a fourth step, I was reading The Shack. It really helped me to find a God of my own understanding that was all about Love. So unlike the God I was taught to believe in. I give the book randomly to people because it is such a blessing to me! Anyone have the same experience?

I want to put this book in our church library; however, our pastor and his wife will not allow it because of Jesus kissing Papa on the lips. They believe this was a homosexual act and that Jesus would not have done this. I tried to contact Paul Young to find out why he wrote this into the book but have not received any answer.

I just read the book & I loved it!
I couldn't put it down...I just wrote on the back "The Missy Project" & I'm going to pass it on to my Uncle ~who lost his daughter about 4 years ago.(And is also fighting some demons of his own.)
I hope it'll will bring him some peace & (I hope) in return he will pass it along to someone else who needs to be inspired,as well!
It was such an empowering story & makes me want to be a better person.
It reminds me of how Precious ~Life~ really is....

I don't read a whole lot or as much as I want to, but for me reading something as special as the Shack is as exciting as unexpectedly discovering a hidden treasure ly. There are few books that have changed my life in a big way over a preiod of 25 years : " Life after life" By Mr. Moody, " Intra Muros , (or "Within the gates") by Rebecca Spring) and " The Sahck") .
As often is, it came at the really perfect time in my life and covered many of my unkwown to even myself questions.
If you look for direction even in the driest of life's moments, you will find it sooner or later. I found this book fascinating and I would recomend it to anyone who has some difficult and unexplainable past " mistake" or remorse in their life.
After all , wounds are healed layer after layer on the skin and with the heart, it is a bit the same, This book can can help put on a new layer of new skin or maybe more on any wounded heart!
i just finished reading the shack for the third time. each time i found something new. i believe God is just like Papa. it is wonderful to have a God who is "very fond of me" no matter what. thank you for this wonderful book. i have given about 10 copies away and encourage anyone who will listen to read this wonderful book. I really enjoyed the book, and think the author did a great job highlighting one of God's attribues (love). However, there is a danger in believing that the fictional "god" created by the author is the one true God revealed in the Bible. I get a little nervous when I read quotes like " It really helped me to find a God of my own understanding that was all about Love" . We must be careful not to find "a god or our understanding" and find the true God who revealed himself through his son Jesus.
Wow. It was recommened to me by me AA sponsor too. Really helped me in my troubles with finding a Higher Power that could work for me.
That is so great! I recommended to my sponsor and a Big Book Study I was in. It is kind of a lead in to A Course in Miracles, not that it needs one for sure.
