I was speaking with my buddy, Jim, about the difficulty I experience when I ask Holy Spirit for guidance. Lately, I've been great at asking for direction throughout the day. But receiving the guidance has not been easy. He suggested the book and said I'd probably like it. He only told me it was about a man who had a resentment against God. And he said it was a little similar to Conversations With God. Once I started it, it only took me three nights to read the book. I couldn't put it down once Mack met Papa at the shack.

I just finish reading The Shack it was the most amazing thing that I have read about a relationship with Papa. This book has made me rethink my own personal relationship with Papa. I ike many of you was taught that God was this being who sat in the heavens and passed judgement on me and we should always be in awe of him. This book made me realize that this is not necessarily so. I never thought that God was in me. I would love to get a better understanding of relationships. Can anyone help pmeee
Yes, honey, God is in you. Jesus promised that when He left us He would put His Spirit in us. Sarayu (or the Holy Spirit) is the part of God that lives in us. He/she is the one who we listen to when we know what we are doing is wrong. Some say the Holy Spirit is our conscience. I think He reminds us when we are in danger..however, we have to listen to Him. I loved the book. God is love and all He is trying to teach us is to have the relationship with Him that He intended from the first. Remember when Adam and God walked in the garden? Well, I want to have that relationship with Him too.Your friend in Christ Debbie
First, am I missing something? What does the posts by Anonymous have to do with the Shack?
Anyway, I'm not through the book yet but I love it. I've had occasion to be spitting mad with God but for different reasons so I can relate to Mack. I've described this book as the best book I've read since the Bible, and I have lots of Bibles. The usual KJV, Amplified, etc., and The Other Bible, The Gnostic Bible, Gnostic Gospels, and many others. I think The Shack makes God more approachable. Yes, the Bible says come boldly to the Throne but let's face it. Most of us are scared to do that because our "sin" would find us out and we would probably be fried instantly. At least that's what we were taught. I address some of this on my blog, www.somebodyliedtome.blogspot.com which I set up to get people to think.
As for the naysayers who are "appalled" that so many Christians are reading this book, all I can say is, "what God do you serve?" If God be God, He, She, It can handle anything that shows up whether it be The Secret or The Shack. And what makes you think God did not ordain this? Some folks act like they have to protect God, fight His battles, etc. Whoever/Whatever God is, They can take care of Themselves and They knew all of this would show up before the foundation of everything. Get a grip. Even Jesus told his 12 disciples that they didn't know who He had as disciples.
Take God out of the box and you come out of the box too.
