I just started reading The Shack. The book came to me through a flyer for a retreat based on the book. Meet me at the Shack - Love, Papa. Part of the descriptions for this retreat says...So you've read The Shack. Would you like to come and experience it - and talk about it? Have you wondered why God put this book in your hands? Would you like to spend the weekend with others who have been touched and challenged by The Shack, reflecting, unpacking, sharing and experiencing God? The retreat is happening at the Cenacle Retreat House in Houston, TX, September 11, 2009. It sounds like a great follow-up. Wow that statement "The Shack finds you" is so true. A friend that God brought back into my life after 30 years gave it to me for my birthday. I could not put it down but at the same time wanted it to last. I started underlining things and realized half the book will be underlined by the time I finish.
The thought that many of brothers and sisters in Christ would use this book as some kind of division is so sad. It is a wonderful, loving invitation to know God better. And again IT IS FICTION the author never claimed it to be scripture.
I have tried to write the author to thank him for writing this but cannot because I don't use the same mail system as the feedback. If you know how to write to the author to thank him please do. It is August, 2011. The book is still circulating and as I wanted to re-read it again and think about it more I already loaned it out. It seemed like I could not let it sit on the shelf.
If you can thank the author for me (I can't use the feedback link on his site) I think he still needs to know that it is touching lives and making me hunger for relationship with God.
The "Mystery" of the trinity is just htat. It is a mystery. And Mr. Young put his imagination to work around that mystery to make sense. Anyone who says they have all the answers regarding the mystery of the trinity and enough so that they can criticize Mr. Young for a wonderful work of fiction that brings others to a new dimension of thinking is, I think, missing the mark.
I cannot speak for God or the Trinity but I have to believe He is pleased that people are reading this book and wanting to get closer to Him. . Thank you Mr. YOung. God bless you and may you continue to be blessed as one who God is particulary fond of.

I have a deep faith which has had it's own journey to forgiveness and acceptance. This book put into words a positive feedback which has made a refreshing return to my own discovery of what being "Papa's Child is. Somewhere I read the the words Jesus uttered on the cross...Elie, Elie Lammma sabctani" literall translation was "Papa papa why have you forsaken me....the intimacey of this statement is the love He expresses...even in the depth of His sense of abandonment. I just finished The Shack, the message this book, brings across is terrific, That God is Love, I would recommend it to everyone
