While attending a group discussion on avoiding holiday stress with two of my three sisters, this book became a part of the discussion. The lecturer, Marty, told us that he never quite knows how the discussion will go or what topic will prevail. Well. this book , THE SHACK sparked discussion. He told us how this man, upon entering this darkness when his youngest daughter was murdered, meets the trinity at a place called the shack. Which also happens to be where his daughter ended her young life. A letter was sent to him and signed PAPA, his wife's pet name for GOD. Well, this was enough to get myself and sisters interested in finding this book. Happenstance was had when sister found a copy of the book at the back of her church , anyone may read it, just needs to be returned. This is how the book found us.
I have faith in knowing this book finds you when you need to reaffirm yourself with God and his love for mankind. This past year not only tried my family with the recession, but I had to leave my job due to a spinal injury, my husband was diagnosed with Hodgskin's Lymphoma, and my sister ( who spotted the book) was diagnosed with endometrial cancer....phew... it was a difficult year, but through family, faith and prayer we all prevailed. So... I have to say, THE SHACK finds you , just when you need it.

Thank you for writing this book. I too need a father who loves me unconditionally...which i never had a kind or loving father figure before. I also needed to know that Father does not become disapointed in me, when i make mistakes or fall short of what i beleive is expected of me. the only thing i did not like was the fact that Holy Spirit was protrayed as a female when the Bible says He is a HE. I do feel that was because females are supposed to be the nurturers and more compassionate. Father did after all create us that way so He too is so compassionate and nurturing. I think He inteded men to be so as well but ego and upbringing get in the way. Perhaps we have stero typed Father God to be what we want Him to be and in that way we can make excuses for not allowing Him to be in control. I truely believe that this book was appointed by God to be written. Again, thank you all fo obeying.
Wow, it is a book that sparks a lot of emotions within me. I thank God for the opportunity to read it because so many unasked questions running through my mind were answered. I would say that the tears I shed and the laughters I shared in the solitude of my room were worth the knowledge , wisdom and the understanding that I got. Thank you LOrd for enabling Mackenzie to share his story and for Willie who put it in words and for the life that you have put in the words of the book. Amazing...this is not just a theory or even a legend... it seems so true and I believe it!!!
