I believe "THE SHACK" finds you .
While attending a group discussion on avoiding holiday stress with two of my three sisters, this book became a part of the discussion. The lecturer, Marty, told us that he never quite knows how the discussion will go or what topic will prevail. Well. this book , THE SHACK sparked discussion. He told us how this man, upon entering this darkness when his youngest daughter was murdered, meets the trinity at a place called the shack. Which also happens to be where his daughter ended her young life. A letter was sent to him and signed PAPA, his wife's pet name for GOD.
Finally back in God's arms
I avoided reading "The Shack" for a long time. I have my own Great Sadness and didn't need any "religious" book to help me get back to God. But, it kept showing up in my life, so I finally gave in, borrowed it from the library (because there was no way I was going to spend money to buy it) and read it. And I can't believe how it changed my life. I can't believe how peaceful and gracious I feel. I'm look at people with different eyes. I'm listening to music again. I'm reaching out to others in ways I never knew I could.
Meet me at the Shack Retreat
I just started reading The Shack. The book came to me through a flyer for a retreat based on the book. Meet me at the Shack - Love, Papa. Part of the descriptions for this retreat says...So you've read The Shack. Would you like to come and experience it - and talk about it? Have you wondered why God put this book in your hands? Would you like to spend the weekend with others who have been touched and challenged by The Shack, reflecting, unpacking, sharing and experiencing God? The retreat is happening at the Cenacle Retreat House in Houston, TX, September 11, 2009.
Just read the book
What an incredible book. This is my God, full of love and forgiveness. When I was young and in Catholic school for 4 years. I was afraid of God. I always felt they were wrong in what they were teaching us children. Thank you for writing this book. It is spiritually altering. I cried many tears and smiled a lot. Thanks for helping me find God to help me heal so many wounds in my life.
It's funny, I was at walmart in the book section, looking fondly at "Eat, Pray, Love" which I had just finished reading. Next to it was the book "The Shack". I guess I was meant to read this. WOW.
How "The Shack" found me.
Hi, My name is Brenda Stacey, I have just finished reading " The Shack" after many days. I have shared it with two friends thus far and hope to use it to help others. I have had my own Great Sadness when both my parents died 11 years ago and it descended upon me when the fog cleared. It has returned every year. " The Shack", while painful to read brought joy, peace and love. I desire to share the book with my community ,friends and family. My cousin recently lost his fiance' and 2 of her children in a car crash. They were to marry this month. ( May 09)That is one copy to be sent.
thank you for this book
this is for the lady who gave me this book in s.beach. thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Shack
The Shack and the 12 Steps
While doing a fourth step, I was reading The Shack. It really helped me to find a God of my own understanding that was all about Love. So unlike the God I was taught to believe in. I give the book randomly to people because it is such a blessing to me! Anyone have the same experience?
You've Never Been Disappointed?
Just walking by The Shack
I read many books. I usually hit the library but two weeks ago I was walking through the book store not really looking for anything. The front cover of The Shack really caught my eye. Once I started reading, I didn't really get any spiritual thing, but I needed to know what happened to Missy. I was surprised by the message in the book. I have been recommending it and am starting to read it again.
